Art Blakey - A Night In Tunisia -Mozambique groove

Welcome to today's new online drum lesson.

And today we will learn the popular African groove (Afro-Cuban) of Art Blakey in the A Night In Tunisia standard.

Art Blakey, also known by his Muslim name Abdullah Ibn Buhayna, is considered one of the most influential drummers

The best in jazz. For more than thirty years, Art Blakey stood at the forefront of the jazz scene. His name always referred to the group "The Jazz Messenger", of which Blakey became one of its leaders in 1954, and the only leader in 1958.

So as we said today we will learn the popular groove of Art Blakey in the section.

The groove is an Afro-Cuban groove in a subgenre called Moazabique.

Art Blakey used to play "A Night In Tunisia" at a crazy tempo: around 290 BPM.

I will say like every lesson to start the groove super slow, and even break it up each time add another hand/leg until you reach everything in its entirety.

To have it on the plate, follow the notes and the attached video.
